The book highlights 19 homes with varying decor and historical and architectural significance, ranging from that of George Washington’s physician who heard his last words, to its next-door neighbor filled with contemporary art, to one that hosted Lafayette on his final American tour, to one where an African American doctor served patients during segregation, to a glass and steel condo in a former Elks Club, and more.
The homes are beautifully photographed by Gordon Beall, who has shot assignments for leading architects and designers and almost every major shelter magazine, including Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, and Southern Living.
